    We are looking for a Sr. Scientist to join our team and lead the ingredient innovation function. You will be working to innovate and create new and delicious food products by ingredient innovation, and work with our partners in CPG and ingredients space to commercialize new products. This role will lead the Product & Ingredient Innovation team to discover how to create new product attributes, formulate new products, and conduct sensory and analytical tests.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The candidate hired for this position is expected to:

    • Create delicious and nutritious plant based fats and lipids ingredients & product applications to delight consumers.

    • Formulate new products and improve current products.

    • Design, conduct, and analyze sensory and analytical experiments.

    • Integrate flavor and texture technologies into products.

    • Support complex and large scale experiments within a team.

    • Present research results to the working team and create reports.

    • Voice ideas, concerns and solutions to teammates.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    We are looking for a curious, analytic, collaborative, and creative “can-do” problem solver. You’re a rock-star food scientist, inside and out. Your passion for food innovation is unparalleled and you’re also a great cook. The ideal candidate will have the following background/skill set:

    • BS, MS or Ph.D. in Lipid Chemistry, Food Science and technology or related field.

    • 5+ years of research or development experience in foodtech, CPG food products, dairy science and production development.

    • Demonstrated track record in leading ingredients and applications development in leading food CPG / fats & lipids companies, ability to thrive working as part of a team.

    • Strong experience in formulation, material science, protein science, flavor creation, sensory science and or assay development is a plus.

    • Strong ability to use the scientific methods and experience in data analysis and some statistical knowledge.

    • Sensory testing experience is a plus.

    • Agile working with their hands to create food samples.

    • A passion to create new products that meet consumers' needs.

    • Self starter with the ability to thrive in a diverse, dynamic and fast-paced environment.

    Yali Bio is actively searching for a meticulous and highly motivated lab assistant to join our analytical chemistry team in South San Francisco, CA. As an analytical chemistry lab assistant, you will play a vital role in performing a diverse range of lab activities including lab maintenance, lipid sample preparation, and lipid testing and analysis. You will also have the opportunity to support analytical method development and troubleshooting.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Conduct lipid testing experiments with precision and accuracy.

    Prepare samples meticulously for lipid analysis.

    Analyze GC-FID datasets with attention to detail.

    Fulfill additional project-related responsibilities, including supporting activities beyond analytical chemistry when required.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Associate degree or equivalent, with a preference for 2 years or more of experience in analytical chemistry OR a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, and data analytics.

    Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

    Exceptional organizational skills, efficiency, and attention to detail.

    We are looking for a talented Scientist/Sr. Scientist, Fermentation to join our R&D team. You will be working to develop microbial fermentation processes in the lab and scale up to CMOs.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The candidate hired for this position is expected to:

    • Design and conduct experiments over a range of scales (mL through a few hundred liters) to optimize process conditions for product candidates in various stages of development.

    • Participate in cross-functional teams (strain development, analytical chemistry) and collaborate on multiple projects to support development of selected microbial fermentation processes.

    • Prepare reagents, buffers, and other materials for bench-scale fermentation and DSP.

    • Maintain clear and accurate lab notebooks and author technical reports.

    • Regularly present work and findings during group meetings.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on team-player with excellent problem-solving skills and good understanding of yeast physiology and bioprocesses. Versatility is a must, as tasks will involve a range of reactors and scales and process modes. The ideal candidate will have the following background/skill set:

    • M.S. or Ph.D. in Yeast Genetics, Microbial Physiology and or Biochemical Engineering.

    • Hands-on working knowledge with laboratory and pilot scale process equipment, strong hands-on experiences with bioreactors for microbial culture and aseptic techniques.

    • Strong understanding of bioprocess development (cell-free, microbial, and/or mammalian cell-based) and fermentation processes.

    • Strong organization skills in experiment recording and data summary with strong attention to details.

    • Ability to communicate and work collaboratively in a team environment.

    • Effective and strong problem-solving capabilities is a must.

    What You’ll Do:

    You will work closely with the SVP of Innovation and CEO to define the go-to-market strategy for Yali Bio. 


    Activities include:

    • Market research and analysis to inform product and business development

    • Financial modeling and scenario analysis for scale up planning and investment decks

    • Partnership communications and agreement formulation

    • Operational support for other business needs as defined by the Head of Partnerships
